Oh, where do I start...2012 I had never gone and bought a dog on my own before so when I was given an ad with her and the siblings, I went for it. As crazy as it was, I was 18, no job and got dog because my mental state was not the greatest!! I was trying to please everyone and with that I lost myself. She was the 1st pup I picked up when I got there...fell right asleep in my arms and that was it. LOVE that's what it was...
Over the months I had her in puppy classes and some training to detect high anxiety that led into seizures if not handled quickly!
But let's say having her was a blessing!
Kona went by LOTS of names... Nana, Koko, Nanabean, Racecar, Wiggle butt, Bear, of course LeeDawg, the list continues. She went through so much over the 10 years. With trauma with relationships to 4 awesome kids being born (2 of them being my sisters)! Having her own kids haha yup 8 of them!! Not to mention the moving and trying to find home!! Luckly, we found him (my honey) in 2017. He scooped all of us girls up and we found home!! And Kona watched all of us grow to be the humans we are today in her favorite dirt hole!!
She didn't just take care of me she went to Assisted Living Homes, gave so much love and snuggles to the Elderly. Loved pup cups from Dutch Bros, and especially biscuits from all the gas stations!! Traveled to California all the way to the top of Oregon!! She loved going on adventures where most dogs would dream of or maybe didn't have access to!!! Camping with her sweaters on, getting them dirty as always... but it was okay do you see that face? How could you not love her?!?!
Everyone loved Nakona!!
Jan 5th, 2022, I retired Nana from her Service as I had gotten a handle on my health for over a year with some minor setbacks!! I was determined to give her the Retirment she deserved. Over the months we traveled everywhere more hikes than ever before and even some early camping experiences. However, July 29th, 2022, Kona went to Heaven, and was greeted by who we call Mama Toby!! Nana got really sick and slowed down quite abruptly!! To this day we are not sure what had happened, but she is no longer in pain, nor does she have any worries!!!
I miss my best friend and I will always keep her in my heart!!
With that said I have opened LeeDawg Foundation!!
I will be taking donations to support my Local Humane Society in Grants Pass and the ER Specialist Hospital in Central Point, Oregon that supported my family during a very hard time, as we are just not ready to add a new member to the family but want to give back to those that need it!!!
Thank you for taking the time to read Kona's Story!!!
